This is addressing one of the most asked questions by Muslims to Christians. According to Muslims, it is impossible for one to bear the sin of another. This question itself comes from a premise of wrong understanding about the person of Jesus Christ. When they consider Jesus as one little prophet, they are not able to grasp the gravity of the work done by Jesus.

Is Bearing the Sin of another an impossibility?

Most Muslims pluck out and quote certain passages from Deuteronomy and Ezekiel to come to a conclusion that the Death of Jesus cannot pay for the sins of Mankind. Let us check out these verses.

Parents are not to be put to death for their children, nor children put to death for their parents; each will die for their own sin.
Deut 24:16

The one who sins is the one who will die. The child will not share the guilt of the parent, nor will the parent share the guilt of the child. The righteousness of the righteous will be CREDITED to them, and the wickedness of the wicked will be CHARGED against them.
Ezekiel 18:20

Is it possible to bear the sin of another?

It is quite interesting to see that Ezekiel is using an accounting term to explain the effects of Sin. He uses the term, CREDITED(to the Righteous) and CHARGED(to the Sinners). It does not require much effort to know that God applies a mechanism of Debit and Credit. A Sinner will be CHARGED and the Righteous will be CREDITED.

Paul also uses a monetary term with sin.

For the WAGES OF SIN is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23

for all have sinned and FALL SHORT(NEGATIVE BALANCE) of the glory of God,
Romans 3:23

Bearing the Sin of another person?

Accounting Terminologies Explained

Accounting terminologies like the above makes it clear that each of us is bound to abide by our credit or debit as it might be. Needless to say, if there is a charge against your name, you will have to make the payment. If you do not have the wherewithal to make the payment, somebody else will have to make it for you. And that “Somebody Else” should have a Credit surplus and a willingness to make the payment for you.

As a result of the payment, you will be gratefully indebted to that “Somebody Else“. However, if you refuse to take the offer of that “Somebody Else“, you will have to personally make the payment for the charge against you.

Also, it is important to note that another DEBTOR cannot take your Debt as that person himself is in the NEGATIVE BALANCE CATEGORY. If my “SIN-RIGHTEOUSNESS ACCOUNT BOOK” statement shows that I am a SINNER with the Wages as DEATH (NEGATIVE BALANCE), I cannot make a payment for another person who is also NEGATIVE BALANCE like me.

We both need that “Somebody Else“, who has enough credit against his name and is willing to help us. Entire Humanity has FALLEN SHORT and is in the NEGATIVE BALANCE CATEGORY. This is the reason why Moses and Ezekiel say that One negative balance category person (Parent or Child) cannot pay for another negative balance category person (Child or Parent).

We are born into the Debt of Adam

Notice how Paul explains the accounting term.

12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man(ADAM), and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned—

13 To be sure, sin was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not charged against anyone’s account where there is no law. 14 Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who is a pattern of the one to come.
Romans 5:12-14

As the entire Human Race was trapped into the after-effects of the Adamic Sin, we all will have to bear the debt of Adam.

The Solution to the Debt of Adam

The Debt of Adam has to be borne by another from the same Adamic Race who is SINLESS. This is where we find Jesus who is capable of bearing the sins of the whole human race. Notice how the bible explains the removal of the debt of Adam

17 For if by one man’s offence(Adam’s) death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)

18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:

21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 5:17-21

Only God has infinite Credit and He took the responsibility to RECONCILE THE ACCOUNT BOOKS. Therefore he became one of Adam’s children to push in his infinite credit to the books of humanity.

All this is from God, who RECONCILED US TO HIMSELF through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:
2 Cor 5:18

God made him who had no sin to be sin for us so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
2 Cor 5:21

Conclusion

I would doubt that any normal Muslim would ever read those verses that I have displayed here. That is because they have already been brainwashed. They have made up their mind that they would not heed to the voice of the Spirit. Nevertheless, any serious person who would like to understand the Christian concept of Reconciliation of the Adamic Debt should make an effort to know it.

Bearing the Sins of the World

Jesus Christ is that “Somebody Else“, who is willing to credit his infinite surplus to you. Jesus Paid it all when he said TETELESTAI meaning “IT IS FINISHED“.

τετέλεσται (Tetelestai) is an accounting term in greek used to denote “ACCOUNTS FULLY RECONCILED”

28 Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.” 29 A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips. 30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “IT IS FINISHED.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
John 19:28-30

Everybody can choose to pay their debt by themselves or trust in Jesus to Reconcile them to God. If you choose to pay the debt by yourself, you will be eternally separated by God. Choose Wisely.

A cheap imitation counterfeit can never even pass through the first level of scrutiny. Everything that you see in Islam screams loudly that it is a cheap imitation product by the Arabic Caravan robber of the 6th Century A.D. Why couldn’t he prophesy in the Authoritative Personal Name of God? Every Muslim confesses that the Name of their God is ALLAH. It is part of their Shahada.

If the Name itself does not match with the Name of the God of the Bible, why do we need to listen to any reasoning about the Islamic Allah is the God of the Bible? Islam is Clueless about the Authoritative Personal Name of God. Notice the picture below. The KNOCK-OFF of Kit Kat is being sold in a similar-looking pack.

The Knock-off product – Islam Clueless about the Authoritative Personal Name of God

Would you buy Kat Kot knowing that it is a cheap Knock-off

Let us examine the pack that is presented here.

Introducing to you Kat Kot

It looks exactly like the Kit-Kat (The original Product)

The packing and the color of the pack is like the same original product.

The Slogan also is almost the same.

They advertise it as a crispy tasty product.

It costs you just half of the price of the original product.

With all the above highlights, Would you buy this product and give it to your kids? Let us listen to a conversation in a neighbourhood store.

Christopher and his son Benedict goes to the neighbourhood store. The name of the store is “Muhammad’s dollar store“. Christopher wanted to buy some toys for Benedict so that he can spend his weekend vacation. After getting the toys, dad and son are standing at the checkout counter to make the payment. Looking at the red Kat Kot boxes displayed near the counter, little Benedict prompts his dad to get him one of those packs. Christopher after staring at it for some time enquires with the counter staff Ameena.

Christopher – Ma’am, this looks almost like Kit-Kat. Is this a New Product?

Ameena – Yes this is from the same Kit Kat Family. It is a better product than Kit Kat.

Christopher – Oh is that so? From the looks, it seems to be a knock-off.

Ameena – Oh no, Kit-Kat is the old product. We detected some quality issues with it. Hence we started getting Kat Kot. It’s an excellent chocolate-covered wafer bar. This new pack ensures complete preservation, unlike Kit-kat. It’s indestructible. Moreover, it is from the same factory. bla.bla..bla..

Christopher paid the cash and walked off from the store without buying the Kat Kot from Muhammad’s Dollar Store. Just as Ameena, the store clerk, Islam is clueless regarding the basics. They tell us that Islam is from the same God, but the name itself is susipcious.

Detect the Knock-off and stay away from Cheap Imitations

If a normal father will deny his son the pleasure of the Kat-Kot confectionery because it can be harmful to him, why would you want to experiment with something which is more dangerous than some bad food? Islam is evil from the very perception. Islam is clueless regarding the name of God. Every time we ask our Muslim friends about the name of their God, they reply ALLAH.

They are in a Dilemma because if they say that Allah is the personal name of God, they themselves are confirming that Allah is not YAHWEH, the God we see in the Bible. But if they say that ALLAH is a Generic Arabic Name to identify the Supreme Being, they still need to tell us his Proper Name.

The Name of God according to the Bible

When Moses had an encounter with God in the burning bush, he asked God, what was his name. I am quoting that incident from the book of exodus.

13 Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?”

14 God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.(אֶהְיֶה אֲשֶׁר אֶהְיֶה‎, ’ehyeh ’ăšer ’ehyeh)[a] This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM(אֶהְיֶה , ’ehyeh ’) has sent me to you.’”

15 God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘אֶהְיֶה , ’ehyeh ’,[b] the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.’

“THIS IS MY NAME FOREVER,
THE NAME YOU SHALL CALL ME
    FROM GENERATION TO GENERATION.
Exo 3:13-15

Moses asking the Authoritative Personal Name of God

Therefore, Ehyeh(אֶהְיֶה) /I AM is the Divine Self-address when God identifies Himself using His Personal name Ehyeh(אֶהְיֶה)/I AM.

The Tetragrammaton

The Authoritative and Personal Name of God is אֶהְיֶה(Ehyeh) in Hebrew which translates to I AM in English.

“YHWH” is formed from the four Hebrew letters of Ehyeh(אֶהְיֶה) yodh/yud, he/hey, waw/vav, and he/hey. It is called the Tetragrammaton. Ancient Hebrew was a consonant-only language without any vowels. Therefore, we are not clear how they used to pronounce the name in those times. The Jews were quite fearful to pronounce the name of God. Instead, they used the name HaShem (literally, “the Name”), would be used, or names such as Adonai (Lord) or Elohim (supreme one). One reason why they did not pronounce the Personal name of God could be because of the commandment that forbids to use of the name of God in vain.

Conclusion

The Islamic Dilemma does not end here. The cheap imitation called Allah did not even know the history of the Jews and Christians even though he claims to be the same God. He messes up his understanding of the Christian and Jewish texts. Islam is clueless when it comes to the Christian concept of God. More of that in the next article of the series.

This is an effort to understand the Islamic conundrum of the Biblical Trinity and address their objections. Muslims have this idea of God fixated into their mind by their mullahs. So however you try to make them understand, they will come back to the SQUARE ONE and argue back as if they did not understand. It always comes back to a Unitarian vs Trinitarian tug of war.

The Unitarian Muslim always tries to insert an Islamic square peg into a round hole. So let us cut the clutter of the Islamic conundrum of the Biblical Trinity. In the process, we will cut away the edges which are the cause for their deviated thought thereby forcing God into their box.

The ignorant among the Muslims will shout and tell that the word “TRINITY” is not there in the Bible or 1+1+1=1 is not logical for them etc. Sadly such people are the ones who miss out on logical thinking. They have pawned their brains to Allah and Muhammad. Hence the thinking capacity is lost. They do not understand that the Terminology of TRINITY is a human word for expressing the Concept we see throughout the Christian Scriptures. Without using the word TRINITY, we will spend much time explaining our beliefs, just as I am writing this article.

Knowing God

The Bible says that we would be able to understand the creator when we see the creation. Moreover, the invisible qualities of God can be seen through the creation.

For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
Romans 1:20

The Story of the LEAF

By default, when I mention LEAF, you might possibly think of something like the one mentioned in the below picture.

Is this the only type of leaf? – Islamic conundrum of the Biblical Trinity

But If I ask you to think a little more, you might be able to think of all the below ones as well. Surely you will realize that a leaf is not as simple as you thought. A Botany student would easily classify the one above as a SIMPLE LEAF. However, there are COMPOUND LEAVES too. Would you be able to identify the compound leaves from the ones shown below?

Different types of leaves – Islamic conundrum of the Biblical Trinity

Let us consider the palm leaf. The palm leaf has one central midrib with multiple leaflets. Each leaflet has an individuality. However, the whole is A LEAF. We do not call it LEAVES in plural just because a Muslim considers each leaflet as a leaf. Similar is the Christian Concept of God. Each leaflet is equivalent to a person in the Trinity. We do not call the Trinity as GODS in the plural. All three form the BEING whom we call GOD. The Islamic concept is strictly UNITARIAN (Simple Leaf). As they have been forcing God into their box, the Christian TRINITARIAN (Compound Leaf) concept is unfathomable to them.

One God Three Persons

When we read the bible, just as in the case of the Compound Leaf, we get to know that there are 3 individuals in the same Godhead. Consider the below diagram of the LEAF as a representation.

Fixing the Islamic conundrum of the Biblical Trinity – Unitarian vs Trinitarian

Muslims who have lost the ability to comprehend the creation of nature needs to be constantly reminded of this picture. This has to be done repeatedly to show them what Christians believe. They may insist on their Unitarian ideology and fail to understand the Trinitarian concept. We need to keep patience and draw their attention to this leaf story. The Islamic square peg needs to be chipped off at the corners. It will take time for them to understand that the Christian doctrine of trinity is not 1+1+1=1 as they think.

Before Jesus Christ ascended to the Father, he commanded his disciples to baptize in that SINGLE NAME(YHWH) represented by the Three Persons of the Trinity.

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the NAME of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Matt 28:19

Notice the above scripture. The NAME is singular(It is not NAMES). However, the number of persons referred to in the sentence is Three(3) in total.

Conclusion

To assume and insist that God should redefine himself to fit into your box is a closed approach. Unfortunately, most Muslims I have encountered, have been schooled in a closed thinking environment. They quickly jump to their own conclusions and declare that the Christian Trinity is an illogical concept.

While discussing the Unitarian vs Trinitarian concept, we keep seeing definite proofs of the Triune God in both the Testaments(Old and New). Future articles of this series will deal with different aspects of this subject.
